1. Felix Hernandez Funeral Services & Internment (tonight, tomorrow, & Friday): As most of you know Felix passed away last Sunday. Please pray for his entire family and his church, the Spanish Bay Ridge SDA Church, in Brooklyn. This is a very difficult time for the family and for the church. The viewing services will take place: tonight,Wednesday, October 26 and tomorrow, Thursday October 27 from 5 PM to 9 PM, both days at the Ortiz Funeral Home on 52nd and 4th Avenue in Brooklyn. On Friday there will be a service at Spanish Bay Ridge beginning at 10:00 AM, before heading to the Cemetery. I will be present at the service on Friday. The address for the Spanish Bay Ridge Church is: 5318 4th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11220. The telephone # at the church is: (718) 492-7549
As I mentioned in my previous E-mail, last week, Felix was very young; he was a good friend, and a long time member of the Spanish Bay Ridge SDA Church, here in GNYC. He served his church as Pathfinder leader, AY leader, and Elder. Felix was also a Master Guide. In the past also served as EMT at CampBerkshirefor Summer Camp and at our local Camporees.
Felix’s family and the Spanish Bay Ridge Youth, Young Adults, Pathfinders, and Adventurers need our support now. I encourage each one of you to take a moment to attend a viewing service or the service at the church on Friday.
2. Master Guide Day Retreat (this Sabbath @ the William Miller Farm): About 80 Master Guides will participate in this event. We will have two departure times. The times given below are the times to depart; since we want to enjoy the entire day we will not be able to wait for Master Guides who are late. Please be a few minutes earlier, in order to board the bus and leave by the scheduled time. If you need to catch up with a little sleep, you’ll be able to do so on the way. Following are the departure times:
5:00 AM Bus Departure from the Greater New York Conference Office (7 Shelter Rock Rd., Manhasset, NY11030)
5:30 AM Bus Departure from the Coop City SDAChurch (1010 Baychester Avenue, Bronx, NY 10475)
The dress code for this occasion is casual; you do not need to wear your uniform. Please dress warm and wear comfortable walking shoes, it will be a little chilly, it is almost November and it is Upstate New York. We will be back in New York by midnight, the latest.
Remember that for Sabbath afternoon, you must bring your own lunch. On Saturday evening, after sundown, we will have a sit down dinner at an all you can eat buffet.
3. GNYC Bible Bowl Champions will represent our Conference at BAYDA National Bible Bowl Finals (this weekend in Cleveland, Ohio): The GNYC Champions from North Bronx, Hempstead, Victory, and Macedonia will be representing our Conference at the BAYDA (Black Adventist Youth Directors Association) Bible Bowl Finals, this weekend in Cleveland, Ohio. Over 50 children, youth, young adults, and adults will be traveling to Cleveland and we must pray for them. We must also pray for our teams, they have put a year of work into this. They are already winners.
4. Pray for Maxine Black and Pastor James Black’s Father: Pastor James Black’s wife, Maxine, and his father are both ill and scheduled to have surgery this Friday. Pastor James Black is the Youth Director for the North American Division. Please keep both, Maxine and Pastor Black’s father in your prayers during the upcoming days. Intercessory prayer is very powerful.
