1. Official Day of Prayer and Fasting for Youth and Young Adults in Greater New York Conference (this Friday, October 3, 2008)
2. Adventurer Basic Staff Training/ABST (October 4 & 5 @ Ridgewood Seventh-day Adventist Church)

1. Official Day of Prayer and Fasting for Youth and Young Adults in Greater New York Conference (this Friday, October 3, 2008): A day set apart by our Adventist Youth Ministries Department, from the beginning of the year, to fast and pray for the kids, youth, teens, and young adults of our Conference. There are many important things to pray for:
One/Two Weeks of Outreach by each Club, AY Society, Teen Small Group, Collegiate Small Group for 2009; your church and its relevance and desire to minister to young people in the XXI Century, power and boldness to reach the community around the church, young people who have left the church (make a list and pray for them by name), leaders of your church, and adults of the church.
Another idea for prayer is to challenge each member of your youth group or club to check his/her Contact List on their Cell Phones, scroll down the list and pray for each contact in that list that does not have Jesus in his/her life yet; after the prayer, they must do something about that person (call, visit, invitation to group or church, but do something special for the person after they have been prayed for).
Please, spread the word in your church, not only among the youth but also among the adults. They too can help us to fast and pray. This can be a day in which we take the time (which we would usually spend eating, watching TV, and listening to the radio or CDs) to pray.
2. Adventurer Basic Staff Training/ABST (October 4 & 5 @ Ridgewood Seventh-day Adventist Church): Every Master Guide Candidate planning to get invested this year must have completed both, the Pathfinder Basic Staff Training (PBST) and the Adventurer Basic Staff Training (ABST). They were both offered at the Adventist Evangelism and Leadership Congress in January. Now the ABST will be offered during this weekend. Candidates, please make sure you have all your requirements for Investiture in place; the standardized Adventurer Basic Staff Training taught by our Conference Staff is a requirement in our Greater New York.
