Earthquake in China (Letter from Pastor David Ng of Chinese Union)

Dear All,I would like to call for your urgent attention and prayer on the massive earthquake that struck Central China on May 12, 2008. Especially in Beichuan county which is located at the province of Sichuan. According to the government official said 80 percent of the buildings had collapsed in that county after the 7.8-magnitude quake.Reported also mention that 14,000 people had died in this tragedy, more than 10,000 people were believed to be hurt and many more are still missing. Up to the present damages of our Churches in Sichuan’s earthquake
are as follows:1. The worker and family that we could not locate were found. Due to the destruction of their home, they are now staying in their relative’s house in Chengdu.2. Three church members were killed in the tragedy, one of them buried today.3. Hungpai in the region of Shifang shows no sign of life, therefore we have no news of the situation of the church members there. Many of the roads were blocked, so colleagues and volunteers are finding means to search for the church members in this area.4. Eight of the worship places have turned into flat ground, but church members are not disappointed; they still insist that they will gather together for worship on Sabbath.5. Have arranged fellow workers to disaster area to visit church members. (In Sichuan province, there are 7,210 members)6. Church in Chengdu city has gathered limited fund to purchase food, water and other necessity to distribute to those affected church members. Please continue to pray for those family who has suffered and those who are helping a hand. If you would like to give donation to help our churches and the church members, please submit your donation to Chinese Union Mission and specify for “Helping the churches in disaster.” Thank you very much for your concern and prayers. You fellow worker,David NgChinese Union Mission
