Adventist Youth Ministries in Greater New York Reach Out to Central Jamaica
|
A group of Young Adult, Teen, and Adult missionaries will leave the JFKInternationalAirport this Sunday, March 16 in route to Jamaica; where the group will hold a weeklong Mission Project. This Mission Trip is the first of three international missionary projects the Adventist Youth Ministries Department of Greater New York will lead for this year; the other two trips will take missionaries from Greater New York to Mexico and Philippines.
The trip will be led by our Youth Director, Pastor Jose Cortes Jr., and Adventist Youth Coordinators, Teddy Williamson and Walter Harris. The mission project will include the repair and painting of an Infirmary (Nursing Home) and an Orphanage in the area of St. Catherine. The group is also planning to distribute clothes, personal hygiene items, and school supplies to the individuals in these two institutions. While in Jamaica the group will visit the Central Jamaica Conference Headquarters, SpanishTown, and the NorthCaribbeanUniversity, in Mandeville.
Pastor Cortes has already announced that 2009 will see the Adventist Youth Ministries Department of our Conference reaching out to two more countries, in addition to the ones we already have, Dominican Republic and Haiti.
