------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Ice Skating Day (this Sunday, March 25, 2007 @ Wollman Rink, Central Park, New York): This Sunday, March 25, more than 1,500 Adventist Young Adults, Youth, Pathfinders, Adventurers, and of course, adults will gather at Wollman Rink, in Central Park for this great event. The place is big, the price is great, the fellowship is awesome, and it is a great opportunity to make a positive statement in a public place on behalf of our church. Everyone is invited; this is an excellent outreach opportunity, you can invite your non-Adventist friends, neighbors, school and work colleagues. A nice way to teach them that, we, Seventh-day Adventist live a happy, balanced, and spiritual life and that healthy recreation is a part of that.

The prices are: $6.75 for Admission and $4.75 for skates. Our registration table will open at 10:00 AM, only the church group leader needs to come to the registration table to pay for the entire group and receive the tickets.

*I will not be present on Sunday. I will be on my way back from the Adventist Media Center, in Simi Valley California, where I have been invited to attend the Official Launching of Esperanza TV (Hope TV and Esperanza TV are the official TV Channels of the Seventh-day Adventist Church worldwide). Veronica Chaug from the office and Pastor Lloyd Scharfernberg will be there. Several of our Conference AY and Pathfinder Coordinators will also be there.

2. TEENS, Taking Care of God’s Property (April 13-15 @ Embassy Suites Hotel, Parsippany, New Jersey):Registration Deadline for this special weekend is tomorrow, March 23. We will ask the hotel to give us a few more days. However, once the rooms are taken there is very little that can be done. If you have not made your registration, please rush it to the office, via E-mail or fax, in order to make sure that your TEENS are able to participate of this program.

This weekend has been planned exclusively for TEENS (13-17). A coalition of Doctors/Physicians and Health Professionals from our Conference, led by Doctor Herbert Goulding, Founder and Director of Right Arm Ministries and a member of our Newburgh Seventh-day Adventist Church are getting together to present a program to teach our TEENS to take care of God’s property, their bodies. During the weekend, the Physicians and Health Professionals will deal with issues that are relevant to TEENS, such as sexuality from the Biblical perspective, changes the body goes through as the individual becomes a teen and develops into an adult. During the weekend we will also deal with eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, among others) and there will be counselors to help with career guidance. This is a must for the TEENS of your church.

We have chosen a high quality hotel because we have agreed that we would like our TEENS to be treated like royalty. All rooms are suites, there will be cooked breakfasts/brunch Sabbath and Sunday, light supper receptions in the evening and a delicious lunch will be served on Sabbath afternoon. Saturday night and Sunday, there will be time for the indoor heated swimming pool and the exercise room. The prices are as follows:

2 Double Beds/Sofa Bed Suite (sleeps 6)$120.00 per person

2 Double Beds/Sofa Bed Suite (sleeps 5)$130.00 per person

2 Double Beds/Sofa Bed Suite (sleeps 4)$145.00 per person

2 Double Beds/Sofa Bed Suite (sleeps 3)$165.00 per person

King Size Bed/Sofa Bed Suite (sleeps 4) $140.00 per person

King Size Bed Suite/Sofa Bed Suite (sleeps 3)$160.00 per person

King Size Bed Suite/Sofa Bed Suite (sleeps 2) $195.00 per person

The limit for this event is 100, only the first 100 registered will be able to attend. We would like to have all of the time necessary to interact and to work directly with the teens during the weekend. There will not be Sabbath ONLY Registrations, we would like those attending this event to attend the entire weekend. Each church group coming needs to bring a chaperone per room. Chaperones will be able to attend the sessions, together with their teens, so they can also learn and take this knowledge back to the local church. We are asking the AY Leaders and the churches to pick appropriate chaperones, young adults or adults that are trusted, loved, and respected by the TEENS. This will make the weekend a blessing for everyone in attendance.

3. Conference-wide Week of Youth Evangelism, Youth Day, and Youth Baptism (March 24-31, 2007 @ Each Local Church): Many churches will begin their week of Youth Evangelism this Sabbath. Other churches are in the middle of their youth evangelism this week, and several others have already done it.

If your church did not plan the Week of Youth Evangelism yet, it is not too late; we would like to encourage each church to participate in Youth Evangelism, even if it is done at another date. At the Evangelism and Leadership Congress, each AY Director received a packet that had the Accent Magazine with sermons. If your church was not present, we have already sent the packet to your AY Leader. In the website we have the sermons in Spanish, under the Resources Section (Recursos en Espanol). If you wish to purchase an extra magazine for your leaders, the price is: $4.00 per magazine. In many cases the young people like to prepare their own sermon, in other cases the church pastor help with the sermons.

The week of Youth Evangelism will close with a Youth Day at each church and a youth baptism at each church. Remember, if you promote the baptism and the speakers make the appeals, the Holy Spirit will work and people will be baptized. A sermon presented by a young person can be of a tremendous influence in the life of other young people and in the life of an adult.

4. Website Updates: There are several website updates, check the News Section, the Resources Section, the Event Section, as well as the Links Section. We try to meet the needs of the youth, young adults, as well the leaders of our Conference, with the information posted there. If you have suggestions on how the website can be more effective, please send it our way. We are more than happy to receive your feedback in order to improve.

We are already making plans to change the look of the website, making it 100% more youthful and dynamic.

5. Pastor Jan Paulsen will hold Let’s Talk in New York City next Week (this Thursday, March 29): 12 young adults from Greater New York, 12 young adults from Northeastern Conference, and 8 students from Atlantic Union College will meet face to face with Pastor Jan Paulsen, President of the General Conference, next Thursday, March 29. The conversation will be broadcasted live on Hope Channel (Time and specific info will be provided). This visit to New York City will probably mark the first official visit of the General Conference President to our territory in a very long time and the young adults of our conference will be the recipients of the blessing. We’ve been working on this since 2005 and are very happy that it will take place.

Last Sunday we had a Focus Group with some of the participants and the taping of the Behind the Scenes Documentary. One of Pastor Paulsen’s Assistants, Bettina Krause was there to meet and talk with the young adults. I can tell you, it was a very lively discussion and it promises to get even better when Pastor Paulsen arrives in New York.
